The Rimkieta neighbourhood is on the outskirts to the west of Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso. It is one of the poorest neighbourhoods, with the fewest means and with innumerable needs because the houses are of adobe, mostly single rooms and without hygienic installations. It is an arid place, with scant vegetation minimal shrubbery and the odd tree. The streets are unpaved and are practically unusable during rainy season. There is no electricity grid nor is there sewerage. The children have nothing to do all day, and unfed, they run round the streets morning to dusk. The neighbourhood lacks all sorts of services and commerce. The nearest medical centre is the one the foundation built in 2006, which is not close to the centre of the neighbourhood. |
